      examples of social responsibility

Consumers are increasingly becoming conscious about the degradation of the environment and society around them. The restrictions imposed by modern lifestyle and work requirements have left them unable to register their disapproval through activism and protest. However, they are setting up examples of social responsibility by incorporating practices and habits including buying patterns in everyday life, that are aimed at preserving the environment and limiting the damage being inflicted by the indiscriminate exploitation of resources.

Given the situation, companies have also realized the importance of being socially and environmentally conscious by investing in CSR. Reducing negative impact of their business activities and giving back to the society have a quintessential effect on the loyalty of conscious customers towards their brand. Moreover, demonstrating the examples of social responsibility (undertaken by the company) to the customers has also become equally important. Without propagating their own CSR initiatives, it is highly unlikely that the company will be able to reap benefits that it set out for.

Going by the role that examples of social responsibility undertaken by an organization plays in improving its image in the eyes of the consumers, it can be said that dedication to these social and environmental initiatives go a long way, both for the cause and for the organization’s reputation.

Some of the examples of social responsibility that can be emulated by others are mentioned below.

      Voluntary Hazard Reduction
Organizations involved in CSR often take voluntary action to end business activities that are potentially harmful to the public, irrespective of whether such an action is warranted by law or not. A company could establish a hazard control mechanism that takes measures to protect the public from exposure to hazardous substances through education and awareness. This is one example of social responsibility that should be taken by all the organizations.

      Community Welfare
Organizations and enterprises concerned with social responsibility align with relevant institutions to create an environment around their periphery, both immediate and extended. For example, a corporation or business may set up a welfare foundation or trust to provide education to the underprivileged kids living in the vicinity of the organization’s premises. This action will be viewed as an asset to all of the communities that it serves while developing a positive public profile.

      Philanthropy
Businesses involved in charitable endeavors make financial contributions that provide aid to local charitable, educational and health-related organizations to help underprivileged or poverty-stricken communities. This measure can help people attain marketable skills to limit poverty, impart education and improve their livelihood.

      Creating Shared Value
CSR interests are known to create shared value or CSV, that is based upon the linkage between corporate success and social well-being. Since an organization requires an efficient manpower to survive, health and education are crucial factors to achieve that. Profitable businesses must flourish so that society may develop and prosper.
